Namibia Plans Public Test For Voting Machines
Namibia’s electoral commission has announced plans for a public test of electronic voting machines (EVMs) to be used in elections.
Responding to concerns that the devices could be vulnerable to manipulation the body’s chair Notemba Tjipueja announced a public testing event will be held on July 18.
During the event IT students from the University of Science and Technology will test the machines. Political parties also have the option to nominate technicians to put them to the test.
Acquired from India at a cost of more than N$60 million, the machines replaced paper ballots in 2014.
