Mugabe’s Lengthy Hospital Stay Confirmed

President of Zimbabwe Emmerson Mnangagwa has confirmed that his predecessor Robert Mugabe is undergoing a lengthy stay in hospital.

According to President Mnangagwa, 95-year-old Mugabe has been in hospital in Singapore since April where he is receiving treatment for undisclosed health issues. 

Mugabe has taken frequent trips to Singapore for medical treatment in recent years. However, past trips have usually been limited to around one month in duration.

While President Mnangagwa said that Mugabe is responding well to the treatment and could be released soon, he has previously claimed that the former president is no longer able to walk as a result of ill-health and old age.
