Mozambique Screening For Ebola At Malawi Border

Mozambique has introduced screening checkpoints along the Malawian border in a bid to prevent against any future spread of the disease.

While the current outbreak has yet to spread to Malawi more than 1,823 in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have died from Ebola in the past year.

The introduction of screening efforts comes as further cases are suspected in the major DRC city of Goma and following the classification of the outbreak as a global health emergency by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

The checkpoints will be looking to identify those with fevers or those who have had contact with anyone who has been in the DRC recently.
