World Bank Appoints New Zambia Country Manager

The World Bank Group has appointed MARTINE VALCIN as its new Country Manager for Zambia, effective this month.

The appointment is aimed at strengthening the institution’s support for Zambia’s economic transformation and private sector-led growth.

Ms. VALCIN will oversee the World Bank Group’s operations across its three institutions—the International Development Association -IDA, the International Finance Corporation –IFC- and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency -MIGA.

She will work closely with the Zambian Government, the private sector and development partners to promote investment, create jobs and support inclusive economic development.

Commenting on her appointment, Ms. VALCIN said she was honoured to take up the role at what she described as a pivotal moment in Zambia’s development.

The new Country Manager brings more than 25 years of international experience in corporate finance, capital markets, environmental, social and governance standards, and sustainable private sector development.
